Jackson Federal Building modernization and GSA's commitment to sustainable buildings featured in Buildings Magazine

GSA recently completed a major modernization of the Jackson Federal Building in Seattle. Home to more than 1000 federal employees, the Jackson Federal Building received new heating and air condition systems, new lighting and lighting controls, and new windows among other upgrades. The work was done as part of the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The investment is paying off in reduced energy use and operating costs. Check out this Buildings Magazine article on the project. Overall GSA has made substantial investments in creating more energy efficient buildings. The article points out the benefits: decreased energy costs, lower maintenance costs and increased occupant satisfaction.
