GSA’s third generation domestic delivery service (DDS3) is the latest Federal Strategic Sourcing Initiative designed to save taxpayer dollars and provide innovative services to the federal government. Last year alone, the domestic delivery service program saved Americans more than $50 million. GSA is releasing an RFQ for the third generation domestic delivery service, building on the success of the first and second generation of the program. The projected annual savings for the DDS3 is more than $50 million. Savings are estimated to increase incrementally over the life of the contract.
DDS3 will continue to provide agencies with usage patterns to provide customers with the visibility they need to reduce shipping costs and improve business practices in managing shipments. Additionally, the shipping industry continues to evolve, offering new enhancements in service delivery as well as improvements in environmental and energy-related efforts. The third generation of domestic delivery services will encourage fuel efficiency and cost savings by contractor(s) to help customer agencies track and reduce their greenhouse gas footprint.
The RFQ also supports GSA’s priority to open doors for small businesses by encouraging large and small business schedule holders to form Contractor Teaming Agreements, allowing small businesses consistent opportunities throughout the life of the blanket purchase agreement.
