Sustainable Solutions for Schedule 51 V
Executive Order (EO) 13693, section 3(i) has updated the sustainable acquisition requirements of all new contract actions for products and/or services through certification guidelines established by governmental agencies.
To assist the federal acquisition community in meeting this mandate, GSA’s Facilities Maintenance and Hardware Acquisition Center will begin requiring that new products under Schedule 51V, Hardware Superstore, categories (639 001, 639 002, 105 001, and 105 002) be designated as “green” products. The initial focus of this effort will be on the following product groups as they apply to the designated Schedule 51V categories:

|Refrigerators||Whole Home Gas Tankless|
|Room Air Cleaners and Purifiers|
In order to begin implementation, the Center will immediately require “Green” certification on all new offers of products in the above categories. These new items must meet Energy Star requirements and be certified Energy Star compliant, or FEMP approved. Information pertaining to Certification can be obtained through the website at Energy Star or the Federal Energy Management Program.

The environmental aisle is designed to allow direct access to the variety of environmental products and services GSA offers. Customers are encouraged to purchase products designated as bio-based and recycled content, ENERGY STAR and FEMP qualified, water efficient, and non-ozone depleting materials.
