State and Local Wildland Firefighters
GSA Wildland Fire Suppression Equipment Available to State and Local Departments
Prior to January 1, 2015, state and local customers could place orders with GSA for wildland fire equipment items identified by National Stock Numbers (NSNs). With the transition of the program to the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) completed, these items must now be ordered through the DOD EMALL. Due to the requirements of accessing the DOD EMALL, some state or local departments may wish to consider other sources of supply.
Attention State and Local Wildland Fire Protection Customers
State and local Activity Address Code (AAC) Suspension: Effective January 1, 2016, state and local customer using the "12" series AAC to order DLA equipment will see a cancellation code of "CQ" indicating that the AAC is not an authorized user. To acquire an authorized AAC, please send an email containing your name, address, phone and current AAC to DLAWFPP@DLA.mil.
Multiple Award Schedules
GSA manages Multiple Award Schedules (MAS or Schedules) under which contractors offer commercial equipment at discounted prices. Through the GSA Cooperative Purchasing Program, two of the Schedules are open to state and local government entities; Schedule 70 (IT equipment and services) and Schedule 84 (Law Enforcement, Security, Facilities Management, Fire, Rescue, Clothing, Marine Craft, and Emergency/Disaster Response).
Schedule 84 includes fire suppression equipment (both wildland and structural) available from many contractors. The Schedule can be viewed at GSA eLibrary by using the quick search box (upper right corner) and the drop-down list to select "84." Users can select a category of interest within Schedule 84 and view a list of contractors offering that type of product. The listing will include contact information and a link to the contractor’s products on the GSA Advantage website.
State and local customers can purchase from Schedule 84 contractors who participate in GSA’s Cooperative Purchasing Program. They are also eligible to purchase from other Schedules under the Disaster Purchasing Program. Participation is indicated by the appropriate icon ( or ) next to the contractor and item listing.
The Wildland Fire Schedules [PDF - 11 KB] document spreadsheet lists the categories of equipment previously contained in the GSA Wildland Fire Equipment Catalog and the corresponding Schedule category. Note that the commercial part numbered items available through the Schedule may not meet the Forest Service specification that was applicable to the NSN item. It is the customer’s responsibility, prior to purchase, to verify that it will meet your requirement.
Customers can search for items either by name or part number on GSA Advantage!®. If an item shows either of the icons noted above, then it can be purchased by state or local customers, if the purchase falls under the appropriate program scope.
