Civilian Services Acquisition Workshops (C-SAWs)

A Services Acquisition Workshop (SAW) provides integrated project teams (IPTs) tasked with acquiring contracted services the knowledge, training, tools and critical thinking required for success. In January 2016, the Undersecretary of Defense for Acquisition (DAU), Technology and Logistics, signed DoDI 5000.74 which mandated the use of SAWs for all DoD services acquisitions above a certain total dollar threshold and recommended them for most medium to large sized acquisitions.

DoD components have benefited from these workshops, as have a number of civilian agencies, so much that the demand for SAWs across government is growing. Currently, DAU is tasked with facilitating these workshops and must necessarily prioritize SAWs for DoD components. GSA has been partnering with OMB to develop a multi-agency cohort aimed at providing SAWs to civilian agencies.

This session will provide the latest update on the research that has gone into Civilian SAWs (C-SAWs) and the next steps for implementing this valuable service.
