What is a FICAM E PACS & how to order An E PACS Boot Camp

Mark Your Calender! The training is free, and you can earn 2.5 Continuous Learning Points (CLPs) for attending the class.

The Boot Camp offers a high-level easy to follow description of what is a Physical Access Control System (PACS) and the difference between a Legacy system verses a modern GSA Approved Product List (APL) system. The course shows how a facility is sectioned into different security impact areas and how an APL listed PACS mitigates weaknesses and threats inherent to Legacy systems.

The course illustrates what a modern high-assurance credential such as PIV, PIV-I, DoD Common Access Card, and how GSA APL listed PACS can detect and deny access to person(s) attempting to utilize copied, forged, altered, or revoked credential. The system can deny access to an adversary presenting a valid card issued to someone else. The session will also illustrate how to avoid common mistakes such as a PIV card used in a non-APL listed, legacy system.

Finally, the Boot camp will highlight how to properly specify an APL listed PACS by using the PACS Customer Ordering Guide to “Do it right the first time”.
