Dual Zone Indoor Shades [PDF - 246 KB] Dual zone indoor shades integrate two separate daylight control strategies into a single unit—an upper louvered blind that maximizes daylight harvesting and a lower roller shade that controls glare and reduces window heat gains and losses. Findings available in 2018.

Phase Change Materials [PDF - 215 KB] Phase change materials can be integrated into wall, roof, ceiling, attic and floor assemblies to improve the thermal performance of the building envelope and reduce air conditioning load. Findings available in 2018.

Electrochromic Windows with Dynamic Controls [PDF - 245 KB] In GPG’s ongoing exploration of EC windows, dynamic controls introduce the ability for auto-tinting windows to learn from occupancy patterns and individual preferences to improve user satisfaction and environmental quality. Findings available in 2017.

Electrochromic Windows [PDF - 245 KB] Electrochromic (EC) windows switch from a clear to dark state with a small applied voltage, and promise to optimize daylighting, visual comfort, and solar heat gains without the need for blinds. Window tinting can be controlled manually (using a button or switch), or by an automated building control system, which programs sensors to respond to changing sunlight levels and heat conditions. Findings available in 2017.
