Small businesses are important to American communities and the U.S. economy. More than half of all Americans either own or work for a small business, and they create about two out of three net new jobs in the U.S. each year. That’s why GSA is joining with the U.S. Small Business Administration, its federal partners and industry to celebrate National Small Business Week.

The Important Role Small Business Plays at GSA

GSA has a long history of being a champion for small business participation in the federal government. In fact, the agency continues to meet small business contracting goals set by the U.S. Small Business Administration. In 2015, GSA exceeded all prime small business goals awarding $1.6 billion in contracts.

Here are a few more GSA small business highlights:

  • In 2016, GSA surpassed the Women-Owned Small Business contracting goal set by the U.S. Small Business Administration.
  • GSA’s new Forecast of Contracting Opportunities tool helps small businesses to find potential contracting opportunities with the federal government.

This National Small Business Week, celebrated April 30–May 6, GSA will be providing training/outreach to small businesses already doing or looking to do business with the federal government.
