WASHINGTON, Feb. 3, 2011 — GSA’s Multiple Award Schedules Program Portal is now using Web 2.0 technologies to consolidate online resources and provide enhanced education for federal agencies, state, and local governments, and the vendor community.

Redesigned to better serve the needs of users, the portal provides a central location for customers to access all of the resources and tools available online. Improved features include video and audio training, a searchable MAS Desk Reference Guide, and access to the MAS Blog and discussion forums in Interact, FAS’ social media platform and online community. Updated training programs help customers easily navigate the schedules and learn how to maximize savings.

“This Web 2.0 training and communications initiative will assist GSA in providing innovative solutions for our customers in support of their missions,” said Federal Acquisition Service Commissioner Steven J. Kempf. “The MAS Portal provides a one-stop shop for resources and assistance with using the schedules.”

The portal is designed to open up new opportunities for dialogue and allow FAS to listen to both vendors and customers, and apply what is learned to improve offerings.

“Putting the MAS Desk Reference online, while a simple change, is a huge improvement that will make it easier for customers to the find the right answers to questions regarding the GSA schedules program in a sustainable manner,” said Assistant Commissioner Houston Taylor, of GSA’s Office of Acquisition Management. “Combining online access to the latest educational material, along with our established Facebook, Twitter, and Interact sites gives our customers choices and many venues to learn about the flexibility and benefits of using the schedules.”

The MAS portal also incorporates enhanced tools and resources for suppliers, including a revamped Vendor Support Center. The Vendor Support Center provides an entry point for both GSA schedule and governmentwide acquisition contract holders to access resources designed to help them work with FAS and our federal, state, and local customers.
