GSA Delivers Total Workplace Program To Create Open Office Space

The Federal Transit Administration started working with GSA in 2015 to move from a leased location in Lakewood, Colo., to The Byron Rogers Federal Building in downtown Denver. Using GSA’s Total Workplace Program proved to be a home run for everyone. Not only was GSA able to bring FTA into a federal building to increase space utilization and provide a modern open office environment for employees.

GSA is helping create 21st Century workplaces across government to drive down cost, increase productivity, and green office space. The Byron Rogers Building recently underwent a major modernization turning it into A-Class, sustainable office space. The building is already 90% occupied but it had just the right amount of vacant space for FTA to move in.

FTA’s new space is a model for a modern workspace. The space features a people-focused, activity-based, and amenity-abundant workplace. Gone are the private offices and high-walled cubicles replaced by 52” high cubicles that feature a 6” frameless glass panel at the top to allow for natural daylight to pass through the space. This is important because increased exposure to sunlight has been linked to more restful sleeping at night and alertness during the day improving overall employee performance.

Each workstation features a dual monitor arm, adjustable height work surfaces, personal storage tower, mobile pedestal, tool bar and LED task light.

The workspace is now a vibrant environment that emphasizes the importance of collaboration and flexibility allowing FTA to better meet their mission.

Over time, the space will continue to evolve as new workplace strategies, concepts and innovations develop, maintaining an always current and ever adaptive environment. GSA’s regional workplace team has started giving tours to federal customers to expose them to new ideas and concepts of a modern workspace. We encourage any interested federal customer to come visit our space; tours can be set up any time.
