National Preservation Award to be Presented for

Montgomery Greyhound Bus Station

MONTGOMERY, AL – Today, officials from the U.S. General Services Administration, U.S. District Court, Alabama Historical Commission and the Greyhound Bus Station Advisory Committee will receive a national award for their preservation of the historic Greyhound Bus Station in Montgomery, Alabama, which is now the Freedom Riders Museum. The National Trust for Historic Preservation will present the “Federal Partnerships in Historic Preservation” award to the team directly responsible for preserving this nationally historic landmark that honors the Civil Rights Movement. GSA’s preservation efforts include the Frank M. Johnson, Jr. Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse, which is adjacent to the bus station and is the site of significant Civil Rights court decisions.
