"By leveraging the government’s buying power, we are able to help federal agencies reduce travel costs and save billions of taxpayer dollars.”
Tom Sharpe, FAS Commissioner
GSA’s City Pair program is used by federal agencies to find reduced-cost airline travel options for government employees, saving more than $2 billion annually. Through the contracted fares and the data-driven analytical approach offered by this program, government agencies are able to save money, control travel costs, and forecast their travel budgets more accurately.
In FY15, the City Pair Program is expanding its reach, increasing available routes by 23 percent to more than 7,800 destinations. The overall rates for 2015 are consistently below corporate benchmark rates in all top markets. Average one-way ticket prices for domestic flights have dropped four percent from the previous year, even at a time when commercial airfares have risen.
