PHILADELPHIA – Today, the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) announced its plan to sell the Metro West Facility in Baltimore, Md. Located on the northwestern edge of Baltimore’s Central Business District (CBD), occupying approximately 11 acres, this 1.1 million gross square-foot complex offers an opportunity to revive an important link between west Baltimore and downtown. The large multi-parcel tract lends itself to endless redevelopment possibilities as a new economic anchor for the west quadrant of town. Activities around the sale will begin in June 2015. Industry Day and tours for interested developers as well as the terms of sale will be announced soon.

This unique property is located at 300 N. Greene Street, with convenient linkages to major employment centers and transportation routes. The area has been viewed as a natural location for revitalization for some time due to its proximity to the CBD to the east, and the University of Maryland medical and professional school campus and Camden Yards to the south. The neighborhood has been designated by the city as a redevelopment area, and via private and public efforts, a number of projects have been undertaken. The repositioning of the Metro West Facility will play a significant part in the continued revival of this area.

“GSA is actively working with federal agencies to identify and timely dispose of unneeded properties,” said Sara Manzano-Diaz, Mid-Atlantic Regional Administrator. “Moving properties into the disposal process makes more efficient use of the government’s real estate assets. The sale of this property has the potential to help spur new economic and housing development, which will have a positive impact on jobs in West Baltimore and the city as a whole.”

Constructed in 1980, the facility is configured as two separate structures – the North and South Buildings that are linked by a two-story connecting wing -- and features 410 garage parking spaces and 108 surface parking spaces.

GSA’s Office of Property Utilization and Disposal will manage the sale process of the Metro West Facility. Additional information is available through a search for Maryland properties at or by emailing
