GSA to Lead Unified Shared Services Management Office

Last Week, Administrator Roth announced that GSA will lead the Unified Shared Services Management (USSM) office, a new government-wide management and oversight operating model for mission support functions. The office is being established within GSA to serve as an integration body for the shared services ecosystem, working across functions, providers and consumers. Within GSA, the USSM will be located in the Office of Government-wide Policy (OGP).

A new cross-governmental Shared Services Governance Board, led by OMB, will also be established to serve as the decision-making body for the shared services ecosystem. Shared services are an arrangement under which one agency provides IT, human resources, financial or other services to other agencies.

This is a critical step in creating a more effective and efficient government – one that enables agencies to focus even more on its core mission – programs that can improve the lives of taxpayers and put taxpayer dollars to better use.
