Heartland Recycles 11,000 lbs of Electronics

May 8, 2014

Bannister Federal Complex workers and GSA recycling coordinators in Kansas City responded exceptionally to April’s electronics recycling campaign — collecting 11,106 pounds (34 pallets) of broken, scrap or otherwise unusable electronics.

The campaign was organized through a cross-service team of Public Building Service employees and Federal Acquisition Service property managers, and run through a team of recycling coordinators from every GSA office at the Bannister complex.

“It was a huge success,” said Area Property Manager Kelly Capps. “Between the broken federal electronic assets and items people brought in from home, we had more than enough to qualify for a free UNICOR collection.”

Personal property managers also used the campaign to educate employees on proper disposal requirements.
