Travel Reporting Information Profile (TRIP)

PLEASE NOTE – The travel data reporting tool is being updated. To gain access to the updated data reporting tool, agencies should send the name of their designated point of contact to travelpolicy@gsa.gov by September 1, 2017. The new data reporting tool will be ready for data entry on October 1, 2017.

All data is due in the reporting tool for the previous fiscal year by November 30, 2017.

Background:

The Modernizing Government Travel Act became law on May 16, 2017. Below are the highlights of the new statute:

  • All agencies must report summarized total agency travel and relocation expenditures.
  • Data must be submitted through the GSA tools provided by November 30 for the previous fiscal year.
  • The data submitted by agencies must be available to the public.
  • GSA must submit a government-wide report by January 31 to OMB and Congress. The report must be available to the public.

Data Elements:

Agencies will be required to submit data elements for both travel and relocation. The data dictionary and the data elements to be reported to GSA, click on the appropriate link below.

Travel Data Elements: [DOCX - 20 KB] Travel data must be reported for FY17 for all the data elements listed in the reporting tool. Data elements that are not available for the full fiscal year (i.e. not collected) must be noted. The agency must take appropriate steps to ensure compliance of full reporting

Relocation Data Elements: [DOCX - 26 KB] Relocation data must be reported for obligated FY17 and final relocations that were obligated in FY15 for all data elements.
