Washington, DC -- The U.S. General Services Administration's Federal Procurement Data Center (FPDC) is offering its first DVD-ROM product. The DVD-ROM contains the historical Federal procurement database for fiscal years 1990 through 1999.

The FPDC database includes all contract actions on contracts valued at $25,000 or more that were awarded by Executive departments and agencies--a total of nearly four million contract actions valued at approximately $1.6 trillion. The database includes the product or service, address of the buying office, name of the vendor, contract expiration data, location of performance, and much more.

The data can be loaded into the user's own database to be summarized or viewed as needed. The FPDC data can be valuable in analyzing long term market and product trends. Vendors interested in pursuing Federal contracts are able to prioritize and pursue the most promising opportunities. Organizations wishing to evaluate Federal purchases by geographic area, product, or other criteria have complete control over the information to perform their analysis. The new DVD-ROM format allows a convenient and less expensive way to obtain and store this information. The DVD-ROM contains almost 4 gigabytes of data. The DVD-ROM eliminates transfer and storage of multiple CD-ROMs.

In addition to the DVD-ROM, the FPDC is now also offering both quarterly and annual editions of the Federal procurement database on a downloadable CD-ROM.

The DVD-ROM, with 10 years of data, costs $2,000. The CD-ROM costs $150 quarterly or $500 annually. Orders may be faxed to (202) 401-1546. For more information, contact Jerry Varner at (202) 401-8135
