GSA Awards Contract To Transform

Washington, DC - The U.S. General Services Administration awarded a contract to transform GSA's Web portal,, into an effective marketing tool for GSA. The contract was awarded to Bates Worldwide and its interactive partner, 141XM of New York City for $930,000.

The contractor will work with the GSA Marketing Council to develop and implement a strategy for redesigning Web site remediation calls for simplifying the organizational structure of the site, focusing content on GSA products and services and providing information that is most often requested by GSA customers. Contractor recommendations will be based on user surveys and other market research tools.

"When the redesign is complete, content will focus primarily on marketing GSA's business lines and will be geared to information GSA customers need and want," said M. J. Jameson, GSA Associate Administrator for Citizen Services and Communications. "This approach is consistent with President Bush's Management Agenda, which calls for a government that is citizen-centered, result-oriented and market-based."

Jameson also said that by making the site more navigable and information easier for our customers to find, we are helping other federal agencies save tax dollars in travel, rent, building maintenance, and on everything agencies use from furniture to technology to telecommunications.
