GSA Takes Next Step on IT Modernization Project

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, GSA issued a performance-based Request for Quote (RFQ) utilizing a statement of objectives designed to assess the agency’s GSA Preferred program. Initiated in 2000, GSA Preferred is an Information Technology (IT) modernization project developed to replace out-of-date systems that track the finances, project status and procurement cycles of IT business within FTS. The intended result is a more efficient approach to working with customer agencies and industry partners, providing better service and cost savings.  GSA piloted the system in the Mid-Atlantic and Rocky Mountain Regions and in doing so learned of project concerns to be reviewed.

The work called for by the RFQ requires:

  • an assessment and analysis on the implementation of GSA Preferred and how it integrates and interfaces with other existing and deployed systems; and,
  • a recommendation on the results of the assessment of the current system implementation and recommended alternatives, should it be determined that another solution is preferable.

The assessment is anticipated to be completed by January 2006.
