SAN ANTONIO – The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) today opens its 12th major procurement showcase for the federal civilian and military community. Local and national vendors looking to capture the attention of purchasing agents, procurement officials and federal procurement decision-makers, will display their products and services during GSA Expo 2006, set to take place May 15-18 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas.
"GSA Expo 2006 will provide potential vendors and procurement professionals with an excellent opportunity to see how they may be able to benefit one another,” said GSA Acting Administrator David L. Bibb.
"Moreover, with the availability of more than 200 training hours on a wide range of topics, GSA Expo 2006 fosters the professional growth and education of the participants. This extensive training will help all parties to understand better their respective responsibilities in making acquisition excellence a reality in the provision of goods and services,” continued Bibb. “GSA Expo participants realize this and know that we are all served by interacting with our commercial partners; by responding to federal agency missions on a fiscally and procedurally sound, as well as timely, basis; and by saving money for the American taxpayer.”
Those within the federal procurement community who find what they need at GSA Expo 2006 can even place their orders immediately by using GSAAdvantage!®, the agency’s award-winning online ordering system. GSA’s Multiple Award Schedules Program is the premier acquisition program in the federal government for commercial services and products and has seen a steady increase in sales.
In FY00, sales were in excess of $13.5 billion. Last year, GSA customers used this program to buy $34.8 billion worth of services and products. MAS Program revenues are expected to increase by about 4% to $36.2 billion this fiscal year—a significant increase in dollar sales over the FY05 sales.
GSA Expo is free for federal and military participants.
With more than 600 of GSA’s commercial partners to be featured during GSA Expo 2006, the showcase will continue its tradition as the agency’s premier customer outreach event. Held annually since 1996, this year’s expo will also offer more than 200 training hours on topics ranging from small business support to travel and transportation to personal property solutions to performance-based acquisition.
