Loewentritt Becomes Acting General Counsel at GSA

Washington, DC – The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) today announced the appointment of Lennard Loewentritt as its Acting General Counsel. Mr. Loewentritt’s appointment was effective November 27.

“Lenny brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to this position, and I am confident that he will be a wonderful addition to our senior team,” said GSA Administrator Lurita Doan. 

For more than 30 years, Mr. Loewentritt has served in various capacities in GSA’s Office of General Counsel, most recently as Acting Associate General Counsel of the Personal Property Division. In that role he was responsible for providing legal counsel on a wide range of contracting programs including such high profile programs as GSA SmartPay, the airline city-pair contracts, the FTS 2001 and follow-on Networx telecommunications contracts, and GSA's multiple award schedule program as well as providing counsel on various other acquisition matters.

Mr. Loewentritt replaces Alan Swendiman, who left the position November 27.  Mr. Swendiman joined the White House as Special Assistant to the President and Director of the Office of Administration, Executive Office of the President. 

“Alan has done a terrific job as GSA’s general counsel, and I wish him all the best,” said Administrator Doan. 

Mr. Loewentritt holds a bachelor of arts degree in economics from University of Wisconsin at Madison and a juris doctorate from American University.
