GSA Hosts Junior Achievement Students

Washington, DC – The U. S. General Services Administration's (GSA) Office of the Chief Information Officer and Office of Technology Strategy will jointly host 15 high school students on February 1, 2007 in support of Junior Achievement’s Annual Job Shadow Day.

This year’s event focuses on Information Technology (IT) and is designed to encourage young people to see connections between subjects studied in school and skills needed in the workplace.  The students, from grades 9-12, are all members of Forest Park’s Center for Information Technology in Woodbridge, VA.  Students will visit GSA’s Central Office in Washington, DC to learn more about federal IT careers and see first-hand how GSA IT professionals help federal agencies operate more effectively and efficiently. 

GSA mentors for the day include Chief Information Officer, Michael W. Carleton, and Mary J. Mitchell, Deputy Associate Administrator, Office of Technology Strategy.   Other IT staff and agency professionals will participate as well.

Junior Achievement is partnered with the Federal Chief Information Officer’s Council (CIOC) and the Association for Federal Information Resources Management (AFFIRM) for this year’s event.
