GSA Inaugurates New Green Land Port
The agency celebrates the opening of the first new Southern border crossing in 10 years, Length 0:45
GSA, in conjunction with the State Department, Customs and Border Protection, and the Mexican government, officially opened the Anzalduas International Bridge and Land Port of Entry. In the Jan. 11 ceremony with U.S Trade Rep. Ron Kirk and Mexican President Felipe Calderon, GSA's acting Administrator Stephen Leeds helped commemorate the special relationship between the two countries and the stronger partnership formed by the LPOE opening.
The Anzalduas LPOE, the first newly constructed crossing on the Southern border in 10 years, connects Mission, Texas, and Reynosa, Mexico. The GSA-owned inspection facilities were constructed using recycled, reused, and locally available materials. Thanks to GSA’s commitment to sustainable design and construction, the Anzalduas LPOE will be the first Southern border port expected to achieve Silver certification from the U.S. Green Building Council for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.
