IT Standards

The Enterprise Architecture, Policy & Planning division determines and maintains GSA’s IT software standards through a transparent governance process. In effect, the team shepherds employees' requests for new kinds of software through a process to have legal, accessibility, (508) and security subject matter experts ascertain that the software will work safely and effectively in the GSA environment. The graphic below shows the process for getting requests approved.

In addition, keeping a bird's eye view of the whole enterprise, the team ensures that there are not better alternatives for employees. This work addresses risk, reduces IT costs, and ensures interoperability. Additional details can be found in GSA’s policy CIO 2160.1F CHGE 1 Information Technology (IT) Standards Profile.

The IT Standards process can be applied within all agencies and we welcome questions and requests for discussions or demonstrations. Contact Kevin Wince, GSA Chief Enterprise Architect, at for more information.
