U. S. General Services Administration Headquarters Building
Closed to the public.
1800 F Street, NW
Washington, DC 20240
The first truly modern office building built by the U.S. Government, the GSA Headquarters Building occupies an entire city block, making it one of the largest office buildings in Washington, D.C. at the time of its construction. Built in 1917 to house the Department of the Interior, the building represented a new model of utilitarian office building. Neither factory nor monumental edifice, the building served as a model for many government office buildings in the early 20th century. Currently, the U.S. General Service Administration houses its headquarters at this location.
