Johnson Hails Recovery Act Progress at U.S. Courthouse Groundbreaking

Speaking at a groundbreaking ceremony for a new federal courthouse in Bakersfield, California, GSA Administrator Martha Johnson highlighted the importance of the project in bolstering the local economy.
"Since last summer, GSA has quadrupled our number of active Recovery Act construction projects, creating jobs that put people to work and invest in our collective future by building the vital infrastructure of our nation, such as this courthouse," she said.
Johnson said the project will encourage local design, construction, and engineering firms to development skills related to green jobs.
The U.S. courthouse in Bakersfield marries the best of the Recovery Act and GSA’s design and sustainability expertise, she said.
