GSA's Jackson Federal Building and Seattle Federal Building Green Teams Earns Award

Two Northwest/Arctic Region Green Teams have won the Environmental Protection Agency’s Annual Federal Green Challenge Regional Awards in the area of Education and Outreach for their work in helping 1,700 federal workers and contractors across 26 different Federal agencies to become more "green." The Jackson Federal Building (JFB) and Seattle Federal Office Building (FOB) Green Teams in Seattle, WA, were specifically commended for their efforts to effectively communicate with a diverse audience across two different Federal buildings. The Green Teams’ outreach and education activities include:
- The Green Pages Newsletter
- Building Management Partnership
- Marketing Efforts including posters and emails to their agencies, and Green Team Gmail address and Wiki pages to share documents, work plans, contact information, pictures, and other useful information.
- E-Cycling Events
- Earth Day Celebration
- Brown Bag Lunches
- Guest Speakers and a tour of the Bullitt Center in Seattle.
- Bike-to-Work promotion
The Green Teams program was developed by GSA Region 10 and is now a nationally supported program focusing on tenant driven sustainable behaviors in building communities. The teams received the awards during the Federal Green Challenge Annual Symposium on April 23rd during Earth Week. This is the second year Green Teams received recognition for their work. Last year GSA Region 10 Green Teams program was awarded the Champions of Environmental Leadership and Green Government Award.
