GSA OASIS Training Delivers for Army Corp of Engineers (ACE) in Vicksburg, MS
On April 15, 2015, GSA OASIS program manager Todd Richards and OASIS Contracting Officer Valerie Bindel joined Region 4 CAR Customer Service Director Warren Richey for an OASIS Delegation of Procurement Authority (DPA) training for the Army Corp of Engineers (ACE) in Vicksburg Mississippi. The ACE needed a DPA to issue task orders against GSA’s OASIS contract. The Vicksburg District is one of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' largest civil works districts in both size and activities. The 68,000-square-mile Vicksburg District encompasses seven major river basins, including 278 miles of the Mississippi River's main stem, in Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi. The district is also responsible for about 800 miles of commercially navigable streams and rivers including the Ouachita-Black system, the Pearl, the Red, and the Yazoo rivers. In recent years, the district's workload has averaged well over $200 million annually for projects including navigation, flood control, environmental restoration, work for others agencies, and others. To handle the large workload and geographic area, the district, headquartered in Vicksburg, Mississippi, maintains two area offices- Vidalia, Louisiana, and Greenwood, Mississippi, and two field offices at Shreveport and Monroe, Louisiana. Each of these offices supervises construction and other activities in its area. The training was conducted live in Vicksburg, MS and virtually streamed live to Champaign, IL and Hanover, NH. The training was given to the Contracting Branches. There were 77 people in attendance in Vicksburg plus the virtual attendees connected via webinar.
