BIM Guide 03 - 3D Imaging
3D imaging has become a prominent vehicle for acquiring building spatial data in three dimensions with high fidelity and low processing time.
The rapid collection of 3D information serves several purposes across GSA business lines, including:
-
historical documentation;
-
facility condition documentation and audits;
-
construction as-built development;
-
and BIM development.
GSA evaluates the appropriate use of laser scanning for projects and building condition audits on a case-by-case basis. For specific questions, please contact the national BIM program or the appropriate regional BIM champion.
