About the Lyndon Baines Johnson Department of Education Building
The Lyndon Baines Johnson Department of Education Building (LBJ), originally the Federal Office Building #6 (FOB 6) was the first Modernist federal office building to be designed and erected by the federal government in Washington, DC. It was the first of nine Modernist federal agency buildings that was built in Southwest by GSA and private developers between 1961 and 1976.
