About the Thomas P. O'Neill, Jr. Federal
Originally constructed to house a large laboratory for the Food and Drug Administration, Federal Office Building #8 was gutted and re-designed in 2008 to serve as a modern office building for the U.S. government. Following this renovation, the building was named in honor of Thomas P. O'Neill, Jr. (1912-1994), an outspoken Massachusetts Congressman and long-serving Speaker of the House of Representatives.
