Office of Governmentwide Acquisition Policy
The Office of Governmentwide Acquisition Policy fosters innovation, operational excellence, and trust in federal agency acquisition activities. It does this through regulations, policies, and guidance that allow federal agencies to meet their core mission. It also reveals the regulatory programs of all federal agencies.
Divisions
On behalf of GSA, the Federal Acquisition Policy Division, with the Department of Defense (DOD) and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), writes and maintains the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). The FAR is the rule book for all federal agency procurements. It governs the billions of contract dollars the federal government spends every year.
The Regulatory Secretariat Division (RegSec) prepares, compiles, and processes governmentwide as well as agency-specific regulations, Paperwork Reduction Act and general notices for the Federal Register. The RegSec also helps identify rules planned for the semi-annual Unified Agenda.
The Regulatory Information Service Center gathers and publishes information on federal regulations and their effects on society. This information is available to the President, Congress, agency officials, and the general public to help them better understand and manage the regulatory process.
The Office of Governmentwide Acquisition Policy also manages Acquisition.gov. Acquisition.gov is a comprehensive online platform that serves as a central hub for acquisition-related information, policies, and tools.
