Due to the lapse in federal appropriations, the GPG webinar on Alternative Water Treatments (AWT) for Cooling Towers, originally scheduled for January 17, is postponed to a date uncertain. We'll be in touch with a date once funding becomes available.
Researchers from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory assessed the effectiveness of five off-the-shelf AWT technologies and found that four of them maintained adequate water quality, reduced blowdown and saved an average of 26% water. All four had a positive return-on-investment, and at the GSA average water rate of $16.76/kgal payback was under four years. During the webinar, researchers and facility managers will discuss findings from the evaluation, share operational guidance and answer questions. Attendees are eligible to receive continuing education credit from the American Institute of Architects.
