Sustainability in the Mid-Atlantic
The Strategic Sustainability Performance Plan states that GSA will eliminate its impact on the natural environment and use its government-wide influence to reduce the environmental impact of the Federal government. The Mid-Atlantic Region has taken numerous steps across all business lines to ensure GSA meets our sustainability goals while reducing overall costs for taxpayers.
GSA has made great progress in the implementation of sustainable practices:
- Green purchasing and waste diversion practices for projects and building operations have been enhanced across the region to help PBS reduce costs and reduce our environmental impact.
- PBS has received LEED Existing Buildings certification for eleven federal buildings within its regional inventory.
- For any new construction, PBS aims to achieve at least LEED Gold certification.
