A perfect fit—GSA Region 4 hosts matchmaking event for women-owned small businesses
Capping off a month-long celebration of the achievements of women across America during Women's History Week, the Southeast Sunbelt Region's Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization recently held a special matchmaking event designed to pair women-owned small businesses with contractors working with GSA.
The second annual event, held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic, allowed a total of 24 small businesses from across the Southeast to meet with three prime contractors to discuss available and upcoming subcontracting opportunities.
Newly appointed OSDBU Associate Administrator Exodie Roe III joined Acting Regional Administrator Kevin Kerns to welcome representatives from those small businesses in attendance to the special event.
"I like to think that small business forms the backbone of everything we do at GSA, which is why I’m glad our Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization pulled together the matchmaking event," said Kerns. "If this meeting leads to giving even one small business the opportunity to work with GSA, then it was well worth the effort."
Kerns lauded the work of Region 4 OSDBU's Chasity Ash and Major George for their work in planning the event and facilitating discussions in the matchmaking event. “Our women-owned small business partners couldn’t ask for better champions than Chasity and Major. Their dedication to helping businesses connect with GSA contract experts and navigate the complex government contract is a massive asset to our region.”
