2020 Combined Federal Campaign underway

CFC Logo - Double star with CFC trademark and the words Combined Federal Campaign.

The Combined Federal Campaign, or CFC, is the federal government’s primary program for promoting and supporting philanthropic causes. Through the CFC, employees and retirees can pledge support to eligible non-profit organizations that provide health and human service benefits throughout the world.

This year’s CFC is scheduled to run through Jan. 15, 2021.

For 2020, the Office of Personnel Management will again use a national online donation system. Employees interested in making donations can do so at opm.gov/showsomelovecfc

The donation system allows donors to renew pledges, and offers options for giving that include:

  • payroll or annuity deduction.
  • credit or debit card.
  • e-check and volunteer hours (for federal employees only).

New this year is a CFC Giving Mobile App (for Apple and Android devices) to allow federal employees to make one-time donations via credit card, debit card or bank transfer.

“The CFC system increases transparency and ensures that the contributions from federal, postal, and military personnel and retirees reach the people who need help the most,” said OPM Acting Director Michael J. Rigas in a memorandum Aug. 20.

He went on to outline benefits of the CFC, including:

  • All federal, postal, and military personnel have access to a single electronic giving platform that supports all charities across all zones.
  • It’s a simple and easy way for retirees to participate. Retirees can use their monthly annuity, credit card or both to contribute through the CFC.
  • It empowers donors to pledge volunteer time to help charities. CFC allows employees to give volunteer time in addition to monetary pledges.

Paper pledge forms will be made available upon request.
