On November 2, 2023, Region 6 hosted PBS Deputy Commissioner Allison Azevedo and Regional Administrator Denise Maes in Kansas City, Missouri, as PBS team members were recognized at the Federal Facility Excellence in Site Reuse Award Ceremony honoring the former Bannister Federal Complex in Kansas City.

The ceremony highlighted the collaborative efforts among public and private partners to clean up, restore, and repurpose an aging, contaminated federal property in a way that provided greater benefit to the community.

“GSA is pleased to be recognized for the role we played in executing this very complex and transformative project in this community,” Azevedo said.

The project was completed in a minimal amount of time and with significant cost savings.
