What was your career journey, to where you are now?
During college I interned with the Colorado Springs Fire Department's Fire Prevention Bureau where I developed their acceptance testing forms. After graduation I became a sprinkler designer for a sprinkler company in St. Louis, then I performed code consulting with a private engineering firm in St. Louis for hospitals, schools and government buildings. I expanded my experience into environmental, health and safety as a manager for a petrochemical maintenance company in South Roxana, Illinois. I joined GSA in 2002 with the Great Lakes Region until recently transferring to the Heartland Region.

What other federal government or military experience have you had and for how long?
December 16 was my 19-year anniversary with GSA. All of that time was with the Great Lakes Region until my hire with Region 6.

What is your alma mater, degree or special training?
Fire protection and safety engineering technology from Oklahoma State University.

What is your biggest professional or personal accomplishment?
Becoming a professional engineer.

How do you recharge your batteries outside of work?
Live music, card games, and being in or near the water.

Tell us a little about yourself. Children? Pets? Married? Hobbies?
I have four children ages 22, 19, 18, and 15. Currently in between both pets and spouses, for now.  Enjoy do-it-yourself projects and water sports.

What three words best describe your personality?
Helpful, persistent, and bold.

What is one of the items on your bucket list?
Buying a large boat with plenty of room for friends.

What characteristic or value do you most admire in others?
Integrity and competency.

Is there anything else you would like to share about yourself?
Served as a volunteer firefighter from 1991 to 2016 with four different agencies. I’m a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan, Chicago Blackhawks hockey fan, and Chicago Bears football fan.

Stormer is a member of the National Fire Protection Association and serves on the committee that oversees fire alarm inspection, testing, and maintenance code development. His duty station is at the Robert A. Young Federal Building in St Louis. He will serve as fire protection engineer for facilities in Iowa, St. Louis and Jefferson City.
