GSA Breaks Ground on New, Consolidated U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Leased Headquarters in Camp Springs, MD

New lease will consolidate USCIS headquarters, save $21.4 million in first year and reduce footprint by 128,000 RSF

Washington, D.C.—The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) and U.S. Department of Homeland Security - Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) today broke ground at USCIS’ new headquarters facility in Camp Springs, Md.

“By working collaboratively with our partners at USCIS, GSA was able to consolidate USCIS’ headquarters for the first time in the agency’s history while reducing the federal government’s footprint and saving American taxpayers millions of dollars,” said GSA Acting Administrator Tim Horne. “These impressive results accomplish key GSA goals of saving money by signing leases with longer terms and reducing the federal footprint, while also allowing our partner agency to focus more resources on its core mission through cost-savings and increased efficiencies at a world-class new facility.”

Announced in August 2017, the new lease agreement with USCIS will consolidate its headquarters from five leased locations and one federal asset to one facility. The newly awarded lease will save the government $21.4 million in the first year and reduce USCIS’ footprint by 128,000 rentable square feet (RSF).

The new 574,767 RSF space is located at One Town Center located at One Capital Gateway Drive, Camp Springs Md. In addition to the savings associated with a smaller footprint and lower annual lease cost, the federal government will reduce expenses associated with having multiple leased locations and USCIS will benefit from functional efficiency that will effectively support the agency’s mission and long-term strategy for its employees.
