GSA Announces Open House Tour for Sugar Grove Station

PHILADELPHIA – U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) announced the first tour for prospective buyers to inspect the Sugar Grove Station, formerly the Navy Information Operations Command (NIOC). The open house tour will occur on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. EST.  The online auction for the Sugar Grove Station property began February 9, 2016.

Located at 133 Hedrick Drive in Sugar Grove in Pendleton County, W.Va., the site is situated on 122.8 acres of land, and has approximately 105 structures.  The property is less than one hour from Harrisonburg, Va, two hours from Washington, DC and near the George Washington National Forest.  The Sugar Grove Station is located within a National Radio-Free Quiet Zone.

Essentially a self-contained small town, in which over 400 people could comfortably live, Sugar Grove Station has been impeccably maintained and has many modern amenities.  Major facilities include: an administration facility, fire/emergency services center, police station, retail complex, community, youth and fitness centers, and recreational lodging consisting of 10 cabins and 9 camping sites.  There are 80 housing units, as well as 53 Bachelor Enlisted Quarters housing suites (106 rooms).  

GSA is actively working with federal agencies to identify and timely dispose of unneeded properties, GSA is an economic catalyst for cities and communities across the country. Moving underutilized properties out of the federal inventory allows for local use that may better promote economic growth.

Moving properties into the disposal process makes more efficient use of the government’s real estate assets.  The sale of the NIOC Sugar Grove is an example of how GSA is committed to promoting local redevelopment which will leave a lasting positive impact on the community by bringing growth and economic stability to the community.
