U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)
Founded in 1930, the mission of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is to fulfill President Abraham Lincoln’s promise “to care for him who shall have borne the battle, and for his widow, and his orphan” by serving and honoring the men and women who are America’s veterans. The VA focuses on administering benefit programs for these veterans, their families and their survivors. Programs and benefits supervised by the VA include pension, education, disability, compensation, home loans, life insurance, vocational rehabilitation, survivor support, medical care and burial benefits.
