Sustainable Solutions From GSA Global Supply
GSA Global Supply is committed to helping its customers achieve sustainability goals. More than a decade ago, we stopped offering virgin copier paper and offered only products with recycled content. Now, in the wake of Executive Order 13514, we are continuing to strengthen our environmental product choices.
More than 4,400 products with “green” attributes are available from GSA Global Supply, and that number continues to grow. These items include:
- Office supplies;
- Cleaning products;
- Tools; and
- Safety gear.

Our commitment to sustainability reinforces our support for the AbilityOne program that provides employment for more than 40,000 people who are blind or have other severe disabilities. Approximately half of GSA Global Supply’s sales for green items came from products that originated in AbilityOne agencies.
GSA Global Supply has also participated in a broad effort to update the list of icons (symbols) that are used to denote green items online at GSA Global Supply, GSAAdvantage!® and in catalogs and brochures. The list of icons, visible on either site when you click on any product icon, helps potential users understand product attributes and how they satisfy legislative or program requirements.
The changes we have made are part of an agencywide effort to support sustainability in the federal government. The latter is specifically tied to EO 13514's requirement that 95 percent of all purchases of products and services be sustainable.
