When did you join GSA?
January 2021
What was your career journey before you got to GSA?
After receiving my LL.M. in Taxation at the University of Florida, I started my career as a sales and use tax attorney at the Louisiana Department of Revenue. I moved to Washington, D.C., in 2009 to work as tax and procurement counsel for the U.S. Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship chaired by Sen. Mary Landrieu. After nearly 5½ years on Capitol Hill, I became the Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the DC Chamber of Commerce; then went on to become the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Airport Minority Advisory Council, a national trade association that represents thousands of airports, corporations, and small businesses in the aviation and aerospace industries.
Prior to joining the Biden administration, I served as Chief of Staff for Carlyle Airport Group Holdings, LLC, the Carlyle Group’s dedicated U.S.-based investment platform for airport infrastructure investment opportunities globally. At CAG, I managed the cross-collaboration between CAG’s Washington, D.C., and New York teams to redevelop the $9.4 billion Terminal One project at JFK Airport, the largest public-private partnership airport infrastructure project in U.S. history.
In addition to working at GSA, I am also a visiting instructor for the International Law Institute South African Centre for Excellence in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Describe what you do for GSA and what a typical day is like.
No one day is alike. However, my typical day starts with reading emails from 8-9am. Followed by a check in with my EA at 9am. I then jump into a series of meetings including A Suite, Council or White House meetings until noon. After a quick lunch break, I have team meetings to discuss ongoing or new rulemaking, programs, projects, recruiting events, or budget.
What is the best part about working for GSA?
The people. My colleagues at GSA are the highest caliber professions that I have ever worked with. Their commitment to excellence is contagious. They are second to none!
