In May 2024, GSA Mid-Atlantic Region and the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) completed a consolidation project to relocate NLRB from leased space into the Edward A. Garmatz U.S. Courthouse in Baltimore, Maryland.
GSA and NLRB leveraged best practices from the design of a similar NLRB relocation project to make this consolidation a success. The strong relationship between agencies built the foundation for the collaboration needed to develop the Garmatz project. GSA and NLRB worked together throughout project design to meet agency requirements by reducing NLRB’s footprint, while making use of existing government owned space in the Garmatz Courthouse.
NLRB now occupies 8,000 square feet at the Garmatz U.S. Courthouse, a 58% reduction from their previous lease. The new office space features unique wood slats and modern lighting. The consolidation will save NLRB approximately $250,000 in annual rent, and is estimated to save the federal government $2.8 million through portfolio optimization.
“NLRB is extremely pleased with GSA’s work to complete the buildout of our new Baltimore office,” stated Dupree Johnson, NLRB Space Management Specialist. “Our team is excited to be joining other federal agencies at the Garmatz U.S. Courthouse.”
