Emily Murphy sworn in as Administrator of GSA
Administrator Murphy will lead GSA’s staff of more than 11,600 employees
WASHINGTON, D.C.—Emily W. Murphy was today sworn in as administrator of the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA). Administrator Murphy’s nomination received strong bipartisan support and she was confirmed unanimously by the U.S. Senate on December 5, 2017. U.S. Office of Management and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney swore in Administrator Murphy.
“I am humbled by the opportunity to continue my public service by leading this important agency,” said Administrator Murphy. “GSA plays a critical role in helping other agencies focus on their vital missions through delivering value in real estate, acquisition and technology services.
“I look forward to working with our talented team to create more value for our partners across the government and produce cost-savings for the American taxpayers,” said Administrator Murphy. “As administrator, my priorities will include an emphasis on ethical leadership, reducing duplication within our internal processes and across government, generating more competition at the contract and task order level, and increasing agency transparency.”
Administrator Murphy will lead GSA’s workforce of 11,600 full-time employees, overseeing more than 371 million square feet of property and approximately $54 billion in annual contracts.
