Federal CIO Council Expects Large Turnout at Federal Tech/Cyber Hiring and Recruitment Event

Washington, D.C.—The Federal Chief Information Officers Council, supported by the U. S. General Services Administration, will host the first-ever, governmentwide Federal Tech/Cyber Hiring and Recruitment Event on November 6 and 7, at the Silver Spring Civic Building at Veterans Plaza in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Over 30 federal agencies will be collaboratively recruiting, interviewing, and immediately hiring applicants, in a streamlined hiring process. Participating agencies span the entirety of the federal government. Five intelligence agencies – the CIA, NSA, FBI, Defense Intelligence Agency, and the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency—will be hiring and recruiting, as well as several small agencies such as the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Leveraging resources as one federal enterprise will help to significantly reduce the average cost per hire and time to job offer. Agencies are seeking to fill hundreds of vacancies in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. This type of federal-wide collaboration to hire and recruit IT and cyber talent is unprecedented. The Office of Personnel Management played a critical role developing governmentwide vacancy announcements that meet the needs of all participating agencies.

The event has reached capacity with 2,500 registered participates planning to attend from over 40 states. Prospective candidates are still encouraged to apply to vacancies advertised on USAJobs and intelligence agency career sites. Candidates who apply to these vacancies and are selected for interviews will be granted admission to attend the event.

A press conference will be held on the afternoon of the first day. Media representatives wishing to attend the press conference should RSVP no later than 3 p.m. EDT on Friday, November 3 to GSA’s deputy press secretary, Milayo Olufemi, at milayo.olufemi@gsa.gov. Check-in time, details, and rules of engagement will be provided upon RSVP.
