GSA Announces New Lease Agreement for the Peace Corps Headquarters in Washington, DC

The new location is located in the NoMa section of Washington, DC, in a Platinum LEED-certified building

Washington, D.C.—Today the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) announced the award of a new lease on behalf of the Peace Corps.

“GSA is pleased to provide the Peace Corps with a flexible and efficient long term solution to their housing requirements while achieving competitive terms and a reduction in their utilization rate,” GSA’s Public Buildings Service Regional Commissioner for the National Capital Region Mary Gibert said.

The 173,000 rentable square foot lease is located at 1275 First Street N.E. (One Constitution Square). The Peace Corps headquarters will be renamed the Paul D. Coverdell Peace Corps Headquarters after Coverdell, a former United States Senator from Georgia and a former Director of the Peace Corps, who was instrumental in creating many programs that still exist at the Peace Corps.

The Peace Corps will take occupancy in late 2019. “The new, modern headquarters will enhance our agency’s efficiency and productivity,” Peace Corps Chief Executive Officer Sheila Crowley said. “The move to a green, thoughtfully-configured space will allow our dedicated staff to better serve the public and fulfill the Peace Corps’ mission of promoting world peace and friendship.”

The Peace Corps will join the Department of Justice (DOJ), the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and other federal agencies in the NoMa district.

About GSA: The mission of the U.S. General Services Administration is to deliver the best value in real estate, acquisition and technology services to government and the American people.
