GSA contracts Verisign to manage DotGov Registry

Washington -- Today the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) awarded Verisign the contract to manage and perform the functions of a domain registry for federal, state, local and tribal governments. This contract will provide the government with a secure, best-in-class infrastructure which will carry out GSA’s important mission in domain name registration and analytical reporting services.

“This is an important step to ensure that government entities get the trusted, secure domains they require at the best value for American taxpayers,” said Dominic Sale, Deputy Associate Administrator, Office of Government-wide Policy.

Government entities will have the ability to use services in the DotGov Registry to register and manage their second level domains.

GSA’s Office of Government-wide Policy is responsible for developing, coordinating and defining ways that electronic and information technology business strategies, broadly defined, will assist the federal government to operate more effectively and efficiently, and deliver improved services to citizens.
