Acting Chief Human Capital Officer
Jeffrey Lau

Mr. Jeffrey Lau is the Acting Chief Human Capital Officer (CHCO) for the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA). He has served at GSA for 19 years, including as the Regional Commissioner for the Federal Acquisition Service’s (FAS) Northeast and Caribbean Region (Region 2). He also leads the Acquisition Talent Development program for the Office of Human Resources Management and Office of Government-wide Policy.
As Acting CHCO, Mr. Lau leads HR activities for GSA’s 12,000 employees and oversees programs focused on talent acquisition, development and sustainment, labor and employee relations, performance management, compensation, strategic workforce and succession planning, executive resources, diversity management, and data analytics.
In his role with FAS, Mr. Lau was responsible for providing leadership and oversight to four portfolios representing over 120 employees and approximately $2 billion in revenue annually across a diverse mix of product and service offerings. These portfolios provide procurement and contract solutions to federal customers as well as state and local agencies. Mr. Lau is also the Executive Sponsor for the Commercial Platforms Initiative, FAS’ Process Automation Center and the agency’s Asian American Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Affinity Group.
Mr. Lau also served previously as the Deputy Regional Commissioner for Region 2, leading special projects and developing strategies in the area of human capital and employee engagement. He also held various advisory and management positions in the National Administrative Services and Office Supply Center. Mr. Lau began his career with GSA in 2004 as a Contract Specialist under the Outstanding Scholars Program.
Mr. Lau earned his Bachelor of Science in Finance from St. John’s University.
