GSA Administrator to Lead Economic Development Conversation in Atlanta
Atlanta Mayor Reed and SBA Administrator Contreras-Sweet to Join the Conversation
WASHINGTON — The Administrator of the U.S. General Services Administration >Denise Turner Roth will travel to Atlanta to highlight how GSA is bolstering its efforts to support economic development in communities across the country. On Jan. 14 at 11 a.m. Roth will host an open press conversation on local economic development at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Federal Building with Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed and Small Business Administrator Maria Contreras-Sweet. The discussion will be moderated by Central Atlanta Progress President A. J. Robinson.
“GSA has the potential to serve as a catalyst for economic development and help promote growth in communities across the country,” said Administrator Denise Turner Roth. “To this end, GSA is partnering with local communities to find opportunities to support economic development goals.”
On Jan. 15 at 10 a.m., Roth will visit Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School to donate computers through the Computers for Learning program. That same day at 11:30 a.m. Roth will join the judge’s panel for the HOPE Business in a Box CEO pitch competition to promote youth innovation and entrepreneurship.
GSA is pleased to support youth innovation by partnering with communities to make computers a part of every classroom. Through the Computers for Learning program, GSA gives local schools and educational non-profits access to the technology they need to while providing an environmentally responsible way for federal agencies to give new life to computers and equipment they are no longer using.
“GSA’s Computers for Learning program helps bring computers to the classroom, so that every child has the opportunity to be educated to his or her full potential,” said Administrator Denise Turner Roth. “CFL is good for children, good for schools, good for government, and good for the environment. It is a great example of how GSA is a proactive federal partner across the country.”
